In this episode, Madigan has a conversation with author of the upcoming historical fiction novel, the Double Standard Sporting House, coming out January 20th, 2026.

The Double Standard Sporting House tells the story of Doc Hastings, who owns her own clinic for women, which happens to be attached to a high-class brothel, which she also owns.

We see how Doc manages the needs of the girls who work for her, along with the power struggle between them and the Tammany government, which ruled New York City at the time.

This is the story of an untold history of women in medicine, saving each other. It’s about trauma, and healing. It’s about power and submission. It’s all about Double Standards.
