The Squeeze Miku Martineau: Turning Insecurity Into Confidence
In this week's episode, Tay sits down with actress Miku Martineau! Miku shares all about her new Netflix show Crew Girl, what it's about, what people can expect from it, and how she relates to her character Teagan. She talks about what got her into acting, opens up about growing up as one of the very few Asian people in her community, and how she had to deal with unkind kids and bullying that led to real insecurities. She shares how that journey has evolved into a deep pride in being a Japanese Canadian woman and how she came to accept and embrace who she is over time. Miku gets candid about balancing work while also just being a 21 year old girl, why representation matters so deeply and what it can mean for young people who see themselves on screen, and what self care looks like for her. She also reflects on traits from growing up in a Japanese household that have inspired her and left a lasting impact, and shares what parts of herself she wants to protect as she continues to grow in this industry!
