62 - Launching the World’s First Science NFT with Matt Stephenson from Planck
In this episode of The Unstoppable Podcast, we’re talking to Matt Stephenson, who just sold the world’s very first science NFT through his company, Planck, for $24,000.
Matt talks about how he got into crypto and his thesis on Bitcoin econometrics, and we discuss the concept of fungibility — what does fungible really mean? Is it black and white, or is there a spectrum? He also shares a fascinating water analogy to help understand the value of NFTs.
We discuss whether people inherently understand the value of NFTs. Matt introduces the idea of science NFTs and how Planck allows scientists to mint and study their own NFTs, and how this could further science by generating more exposure and funding for projects.
Matt talks about how he created and sold his own science NFT (the first ever!), and how his PhD in behavioral economics fits into Web 3.0. We also talk about the future of the NFT space.
