Aug 22, 2021
44:52

Sami and Aleen are kicking off a new four-part series all about how movies and TV shows have affected our body image. They start off by discussing how the Thanksgiving episode in Gossip Girl glamorized binge eating and how the movie Center Stage made a point of needing to be thin in order to be accepted in the dance community. Then Sami shares a Vanity Fair magazine spread from 2002 where everyone looks extremely thin and there’s absolutely no diverse body representation. Next, Aleen shares her thoughts on how Laguna Beach portrayed thin bodies and Sami talks about which Disney characters negatively influenced the way she saw herself. Lastly, they discuss when Yolanda Foster told Gigi not to eat her birthday cake, the movie Shallow Hal, Monica from Friends, and Snooki.
