In this 160th in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we discuss the state of the world through an evolutionary lens.

This week, we discuss why sport has different categories for men and women, and actors and actresses are up for different awards, but sculptors, scientists, and screenwriters aren’t assessed by sex. What is the difference, and why does it matter? Should music awards be divvied up by sex? How about surfing competitions? Then we discuss how never to end up in another situation in which the authorities are spouting nonsense, they somehow convince far too many people that they are the voice of science; and dangerous, unscientific policies are made that will affect millions for a long time to come. Many people who consider themselves heterodox thinkers got it very wrong throughout Covid, but now claim that those of us who got it right did so through contrarianism or luck. Wrong, and wrong.
