I had the pleasure of discussing the importance of thinking outside the preverbal box, just just in training but how we look at our entire world of coaching, with Ali Kershner. After a quick run down of how she got back out to Palo Alto, we get into her time and Kansas. This discussion includes a different perspective on the role of a mentor, and how learning from one of the trial blazers and most recognized coaches in the world leads to some trying scenario for young coaches who are trying to make their mark. We then discuss the role of autonomy, the misconceptions of it, and why it may be even more important that ever in this COVID world we are trying to navigate.
