The other day, I caught my daughter lying about stealing sweets—and it hit me hard.

 

Not because of the sweets.

 

But because I recognised the pattern. The same energy I once brought into parenting—command and control, dominance and fear—is the energy I used to bring into my own inner world. Especially when I wanted a drink.
