Interview with Dr Valery Kleshnev, one of the world's leading experts in rowing biomechanics and advisor to Olympic rowing teams. In this interview Valery chats with me about his life growing up in the former USSR, what first attracted him to rowing, and his journey to becoming the head of Biomechanics for the Australian and Great Britain Rowing teams. Valery covers some fascinating insights into his past as an international rower, including how he won the championship single scull for the USSR at the age of 18 and insights into the what some of the top crews focus on measuring and improving to make the boat go faster.
This is a long form conversational interview with Valery and we will do a follow up on his thoughts on the key aspects on how to set up the boat and athlete to go fast.
