May 6, 2024

In the Republic, Book II, Glaucon challenges Socrates with a story of what a man would do if he could get away with anything with no penalty. The perfectly unjust man who has a reputation for being wonderful and the perfectly just man who has a reputation for being a monster are compared to push Socrates to prove that justice is the right choice no matter what.
