Mother Teresa's amazing service to the poor and her inner story
Mother Teresa is known for her extraordinary service to the poor, caring for the sick, dying, lepers, and those with AIDS. Her work of charity was not just external, but also internal. She underwent a transformation of her soul, which is less known to many. On September 10th, 1948, Mother Teresa had a dramatic dialogue with God, where she was called to leave everything for the second time in her life. This call led her to start a new religious order, the Missionaries of Charity, dedicated to serving the poorest of the poor. Mother Teresa's story reminds us of the importance of surrendering to God's will, even in the face of fear and uncertainty.
The dialogue between Mother Teresa and God
During the dialogue with God, Mother Teresa expressed her fears, doubts, and feelings of unworthiness. She was afraid of taking this new step in starting the Missionaries of Charity. She feared failure and was worried about leaving behind her comfortable life and relationships with the Loreto sisters. However, Jesus reassured her and reminded her of her previous commitment to always do His will. He called her not to fear and promised to be with her, supporting her through the challenges that lay ahead.
Lessons from Mother Teresa's life
Mother Teresa's story teaches us the importance of naming our fears and voicing our concerns to God. By being honest and humble, we can seek His guidance and find the strength to overcome our fears. Trusting in God's presence and leaning on His support, even in the face of uncertainty and difficulty, enables us to step out of our comfort zones and follow His will. Additionally, Mother Teresa's example encourages us to say yes to God in the little things, allowing our hearts to grow in generosity and prepare us for greater acts of obedience in the future.
Surrendering to God is difficult. Even the holiest men and women struggled to surrender to God. Fortunately, we can learn from them how to give our lives completely to God.
