This episode I go through 31 life lessons that have become clear to me over the course of my now 31 years on this planet
- Everything is the same.
- Health is non negotiable
- Fitness is great for a variety of reasons. Looking a certain way is low on that list
- Same can be said about nutrition
- Doing the hard thing is always the right answer. I have yet to find a single example of where this is not the case
- The older I get, the less I care about ‘having fun.’
- Mindset matters, more than just about anything else
- Time is to valuable to waste commuting. Move closer, or get a different job
- After you have a roof over your head and food on the table, all money is wasted. What do you want to waste it on?
- Be ruthless with your time. Say no to more things
- Everything has an opportunity cost. Understand it, and calculate it
- The stories we tell ourselves about our past, write our future. Be careful how you speak to yourself.
- The internet is the most powerful tool of our generation.
- You are totally, completely, 100% in control.
- Less smart phones, more smart conversations
- Food is so much more than just something we eat. It is a part of our families, our cultures, our religions.
- Spending all of your time to make money that you then don’t have the time, or energy to spend, is not a worthwhile trade
- Drink more water. Eat more fruits and vegetables.
- If you aren’t actively planning ahead, you are actively doing harm to your future self
- Every decision you make effects so many more people than just you. Remember that. Only thinking about yourself is selfish by definition.
- Ive never finished a book, or a workout and regretted it
- Invest in yourself. The best money you can spend is on courses, and teachers (this includes personal trainers and business/life coaches)
- There is no right way. You have to figure it out yourself, but you can learn from the mistakes of others
- It’s astonishing (and also sad) how much attention people pay to how they look, and little they pay to how they feel
- That thing won’t make you happy. Whether it is money, a promotion, the girl, the abs, the number on the scale, or whatever else. It all starts from within.
- Abs are overrated. So are biceps. And basically all vanity muscles
- Lying to others is bad. Don’t do it. Lying to yourself is worse.
- The most valuable skill in the world is being able to delay gratification. If you can do that, you win at life
- People don’t value you, or your time if they aren’t paying for it
- Yes it’s hard. Yes it sucks. You’ve still gotta do it anyway.
- Read more books.
