Episode notes
Jennifer and Sarah Hart's Background
- Jennifer Hart, more vocal of the two, grew up gay in Huron, South Dakota, and met Sarah in college.
- They adopted a teenager, Bree, before adopting the six children involved in the crash, but later abruptly removed Bree from their care.
Social Media Facade vs. Reality
- The seemingly perfect Hart family image on social media contrasted sharply with the reality of abuse.
- Evidence suggests both Jennifer and Sarah were involved, with Sarah pleading guilty to domestic violence and incriminating searches found on her phone.
Escalation and Moves
- After Sarah's guilty plea, the Harts moved to Oregon, where another investigation began after friends witnessed alarming punishment of the children.
- Despite a doctor finding five of the six children severely underweight, they were not removed from the Harts' custody.
