Introduction - Why This Conversation?

As leaders, I know you’re trying to juggle a lot. From learning how to balance the needs of your significant other, your children, your friends, your family, and – most importantly – yourself, as well as the demands of your job, your team, your boss, and your organization, it can be rather easy to feel overwhelmed. And while you’re probably pretty ambitious and are quickly climbing the corporate ladder, you’ve probably noticed that your skills need to grow and evolve as quickly as your responsibilities do.

But once you have that title and authority, how do you continue to lead a team who all have their own ideas, ambitions, and perspectives, as well as their own challenges to deal with? How are you supposed to lead up, across, and down – all while leading yourself?

That’s exactly what the Rising Leader Podcast is all about.

In this episode, I explain what inspired me to launch the Rising Leader Podcast. I discuss how many entrepreneurs and corporate leaders rising through the ranks of their organization often struggle to find a balance between their personal and professional life and how our skillsets typically change as we move up the ladder of responsibility. I discuss how leading people who work for you differ from leading a team of other leaders. I also explain how there’s a common denominator in the skillsets we need to lead ourselves, our teams, our peers, and our boss and what you can expect each week from the Rising Leader Podcast episodes.
