Deep dives
Brock and Chase are hotshot movie producers looking to dominate Hollywood
Brock Springs and Chase Tillman, two hotshot movie producers in the 1980s, aim to dominate Hollywood during the golden age of big-budget action movies. They are determined to make it big and become the most powerful producers in Hollywood, as they navigate the glamorous but cutthroat world of the film industry. They envision themselves as the next Joel Silver and Jerry Bruckheimer, and they are willing to do whatever it takes to make their mark on Tinseltown.
Chase and Brock's rise to success and challenges along the way
Chase Tillman and Brock Springs experience both success and challenges as they work towards achieving their dreams of becoming Hollywood powerhouses. They create a hit movie called 'Cry from the Devil' that becomes a summer blockbuster and propels them to the top of the industry. However, their success does not come without its share of setbacks and obstacles. They face rivalry from other studios, such as Frank Clapman at 20th Century Fox, and deal with the manipulative tactics of Dina Crane, an executive who tries to steal their projects. Despite the challenges, Chase and Brock remain resilient and determined to make their mark in Hollywood.
Dina Crane's interference and the impact on Chase and Brock's careers
Dina Crane, an executive, becomes a major obstacle for Chase and Brock's career aspirations. She attempts to sabotage their success by poaching their movie projects and working against them. Despite their efforts to outwit and navigate around Dina, her interference takes a toll on their careers. Chase and Brock realize that they need a new strategy to reclaim their success and prove their worth in the industry.
Reevaluating their goals and finding a new direction
After facing numerous setbacks and challenges, Chase and Brock reevaluate their goals and decide to embark on a new project that combines their love for both cars and the water. They come up with the idea for a movie called 'Hardtop,' a high-octane action film centered around a top-secret naval unit comprised of the best speedboat racers in America. The film follows the journey of an unlikely recruit, a street kid and a badass drag racer named D.W., as he navigates the world of speedboat racing and discovers a hidden secret. With 'Hardtop,' Chase and Brock find a new direction and a fresh opportunity to make their mark in the industry.
