Is Supermarket Meat from a Factory Farm Really That Bad? with Farmers Tara & Natalie | EP 309
When you hear “factory farming” do you think,.. bad? When you hear “regenerative farming” I’m guessing you hear,.. good! The reality is that these are 2 very large blanket terms that include all of the best and all of the worst possible things that are to do with farming and in this episode we unpack what those terms specifically mean from a farming perspective and from a nutrition and consumer perspective, a.k.a. you going shopping at the supermarket. This episode is really going to set your mind in a new direction about how to think about food packaging but more importantly about how farms work across the world and we’re doing with 2 female farmers, Tara Vander Dussen and Natalie Kovarik.
In this episode we talked about:
- Farming myths that people somehow still believe
- Why the farming industry has a marketing problem
- Vegan, plant based propaganda - what is it all about?
- The definition of factory farming - what does it actually mean?
- Understanding the death process from a young age
- Where does our food come from
- How food companies mess with whole real food from the farm
- Additives and ingredients that aren’t the farmers fault (or responsibility)
- The relationship we have with death and the lifecycle of animals
- Direct to consumer farming / buying your meat from the farm directly
- Is regenerative farming really a good thing?
