We are living in the era of big tech monopolies, but unlike the oil and gas conglomerates of the past, the underlying problems with Google and Facebook owning or dominating every aspect of the internet are less apparent, especially as these selfsame companies that also dominate the story of the future. IMHO the future debate needs to be re-integrated into civil society. The vision of a 'good future' is not a question of software - it's a question of human-ware. The question is no longer what we CAN do with technology, but what we WANT TO do. Not the possible future but the PREFERRED future.
