Why apprenticeships in Finanical Planning are a great way to train the next generation of Financial Advisers
🚨 Inspiring entry-level episode 🚨
This weeks episode is with Joel Carter from Rathbone Brothers
At 17 years old Joel Carter left the sixth form to pursue a career in financial services, like everyone else he was presented with obstacles to entry, but this did not deter him.
he was given the opportunity of work experience in an IFA practice; it was here that he met two Investment Directors from Quilter Cheviot that took the time to educate him about the roles within investment management & arranged some further work experience, this conversation & work experience was vital in giving Joel the confidence to apply for a 2-year
apprenticeship with Rathbones Brothers.
At Rathbones Joel benefited from a structured apprenticeship and the years of experience passed down to him from mentors across the business and although he was not a naturally academic student, he found a passion and purpose within financial planning which was instrumental in helping him focus on passing his DipFA by 21 and Chartered by 23!
I loved talking to Joel, he was grounded and grateful for the support that he has received In the early stages of his career and we are both in agreement that apprenticeships are an excellent way to inspire and motivate that next generation of Financial Planners.
Joel, you are an absolute superstar!⭐
we also cover:
- The power of apprenticeship, and what his two years looked like.
- The role of a Client Services Executive
- His proven strategy for passing DipFA and Chartered
- Why mentors are so important, and why staying grounded and humble is a must.
- Why you don't need to go to University to land your dream job in Financial Planning.
