Mastermind Parenting Podcast 213: Surviving Judgey Relatives During the Holidays
Thanksgiving is here, and I'm feeling stressed. I remember what it was like when my kids were little, and we had to go to all the extended family gatherings. It was exhausting trying to keep them entertained and well-behaved. I came up with a plan to make it more bearable. I called it "present engage time." I would spend the first hour or so with them, just focusing on them and making sure they were comfortable.
It was a great way to bond with them and create positive memories. I also gamified the annoying things that relatives would do. I would play the "but of course they did" game where I would make a joke out of the annoying things that my relatives would do. It was a great way to relieve some stress and tension that comes with the holidays.
