In this episode of Tech Intersect, I welcome Mikael (Mikel) Owunna , a multi-media artist, engineer and emerging NFT Artist based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He centers himself as a queer Nigerian-Swedish American who Explores the intersections of visual media with engineering, optics, Blackness, and African cosmologies, and his work seeks to elucidate an emancipatory vision of possibility that pushes Black people beyond all boundaries, restrictions, and frontiers. In this conversation, we explore opportunities for economic and artistic justice in the creative NFT space, the commonalities and differences between the physical and digital art world, finding your SELF in the midst of creative expression and how true economic and artistic justice comes from disenfranchised people throughout the diaspora participating as investors and collectors in addition to artists.
