The Enigma of Early Christianity
Jun 9, 2019
We explore the origins of Christianity and the lack of documentation about its internal affairs within the Roman Empire. Theories proposed about the early Christian movement, including its origins in apocalyptic Judaism and Hellenistic pagan influences, are discussed. The limited historical knowledge about Jesus as a figure and inconsistencies in the Gospels are explored. We examine the challenges of determining the truth behind Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection, and the influence of Hellenism on early Christianity. The Jewish nature of early Christianity and the formation of a separate non-Jewish religion are also discussed.
