The Mysteries of Sothorios
Sothorios is a southern continent full of dangerous wildlife and deadly diseases. It is home to various creatures such as crocodiles, carnivorous fish, giant snakes, basilisks, and massive apes. The native people, known as Brindled Men, are described as hairy, big-boned, and savage cannibals. The most enigmatic location in Sothorios is the ruined city of Yeen, constructed from oily black stone, where no trees or vines grow, and even the jungle avoids entering. Sothorios is a treacherous and mysterious land.
The Basilisk Isles and Gogosos
The Basilisk Isles, located off the western coast of Sothorios, are infested with stinging flies, sand fleas, bloodworms, and dangerous creatures. The isles were once used as a penal colony for Valyria's worst criminals, and the city of Gogosos within the isles was known for its sorcery and slavery. However, a plague wiped out Gogosos and it became a haven for pirates. The pirates of the Basilisk Isles are known for their gruesome customs, such as piling skulls of their enemies on a specific island as an offering to dark gods.
Impressive Civilizations and the Land of Shadow
The world of Game of Thrones is not limited to Westeros and Essos. Legends mention ancient civilizations and lands such as the first civilizations in the grasslands of Essos, the kingdom of Sarnor ruled by Tallmen, the Shivering Sea teeming with fish and ice dragons, the island of Ib with its strong and hairy Ibonese people, and the great empire of Yi Ti inspired by Imperial China. The easternmost and southernmost city of Asshai, built entirely of greasy black stone, is a center of dark magic and secrets, attracting red priests, blood mages, necromancers, and shadowbinders. These lands are filled with exotic creatures, Lovecraftian horrors, and cosmic mysteries.
