#2-19 - Standing up to Discrimination in Academia ft. Dr. Cristian D. Magnus
In this episode, Allison is talking to Dr. Cristian D. Magnus, a queer coach, trainer, and social researcher, who coaches individuals and helps institutions create more inclusive environments.
They talk about gender (non)-conformity, gender identity and gendered language, sexual diversity, and LGBTQIA*. They address heteronormativity, barriers, and institutionalised forms of discrimination in academia, and talk about fighting these discriminatory effects and biases by challenging norms and thinking patterns.
Education is a very powerful tool in being an ally, and you don’t need to be a teacher to educate. The work of making academia more queer-friendly starts with you, help us challenge discrimination and call out discriminatory behaviours and practices!
