Maurice Ashley is a Jamaican-American chess grandmaster, author, and commentator. In 1999 he earned the grandmaster title, making him the first black person to attain the title of grandmaster. This heavy hitting conversation focuses on honing the ability to maintain attention, the skill of being able to deal with uncertainty, and a devastating moment in Maurice's life 2 years before winning the title of Grandmaster that led him to doubt his path.
