137: Biden to Announce new Gun Violence Office
On Thursday, the 22nd of September 2023, the Biden Administration announced that a new Office of Gun Violence Prevention would come into being under the guidance of then Vice President Kamala Harris. This arrives soon after the Governor of New Mexico decreed that the citizens in and around Albuquerque were subject to a suspension of their right to bear arms, open or concealed.
What happened in New Mexico drew attention, and after the backlash, instead of rescinding the order, Governor Grisham stated that she would be "dialing back" the limitations of the order.
With that as context, this new move by the Biden White House appears partially planned, and fully partisan, as the persons identified to be part of this office hail from exclusively far-left organizations.
Measures include normal talking points regarding assault weapons bans, safe storage, and increased background checks, while including increasing police activities on the matter.
