THE FORGE, the newest Christian movie from the Kendrick Brothers, is a powerful illustration and reminder that discipleship matters!
Guest host Adam McManus interviews Alex Kendrick, the co-writer and director of the film, which has already made $27 million domestically since August 23rd. At its height, THE FORGE was shown in 1,900 theaters. Still in 700 theaters today, go to the website www.TheForgeMovie.com to find out where it is playing near you.
In the film, Isaiah Wright, played by Aspen Kennedy, has some growing up to do. A year out of high school with no plans for his future, Isaiah is challenged by his single mom and a successful businessman to start charting a better course for his life. Through the Biblical discipleship from his new mentor, prayers of his mother and a prayer warrior named Miss Clara, Isaiah begins to discover God’s purpose for his life.
Most Bible-believing Christians know the Great Commission by memory. It records the last words of Jesus during His earthly ministry found in Mathew 28:18-20.
Jesus said, “All authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to Me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Notice it doesn’t say, “Go and make converts.” While the movie inspires Christians to make disciples, their companion book, Devoted To Jesus, equips believers to disciple others by working through the 52 short chapters in 52 weeks with anyone who needs to grow in faith.
Like the special ceremony for young men in THE FORGE, McManus shares the story of the special Manhood Cele
Author, pastor, podcaster, husband, father, and grandfather, Kevin Swanson, enters the arena with the takeaway word for the day. Strong.
