Faithful Politics "Law Wars: Revenge of the 6th" w/Former Manhattan Prosecutor Diana Florence
On this episode of Faithful Politics, we had the privilege of hosting Diana Florence, a former Manhattan Assistant DA Prosecutor, to shed light on the maze of recent indictments and legal controversies in Trump World. At the forefront is the superseding indictment, related to the Florida document case, a replacement or addition to the original indictment which can be accessed here.
We touched upon Judge Aileen Cannon's past errors, including her forgetfulness to swear in a jury pool and multiple mistakes in a trial shortly after being designated for Trump's charges. Our guest weighed in on the potential implications of such missteps and the role of Cannon in the upcoming trials.
Then we delved deep into the January 6th indictment, available here. With Diana's expertise, we parsed through the various counts against Trump, ranging from conspiracy to defraud the United States to obstruction of official proceedings.
We also talked about potential defenses for Trump, challenges Jack Smith might face in proving the case, and the intricacies of co-conspirator charges. Out of all punditry about Trump's numerous indictments we actually talked about one of the most important parts of his trial, the jury.
Jury selection, often overlooked in public discourse, became a focal point of our conversation. With Trump's polarizing nature, the challenge of achieving an unbiased jury was a thought-provoking segment. Lastly, we took questions from our keen audience. Discussions ranged from the curious timing of Trump's indictments in relation to Hunter Biden's court revelations to comparisons between Trump's actions and the email controversy surrounding Hillary Clinton.
