Building Inclusivity in Madison's Trades Scene
With decades of experience under her belt, there’s no question that Sylvie Rosenthal is a master of her craft. But in the world of woodworking, which has been dominated by stereotypical big, burly men, Rosenthal — a queer woman — knows what it’s like to be underestimated at every turn.
Host Bianca Martin spoke with Rosenthal about the discrimination she’s faced and how she’s leveraged her past trauma to start her Madison workshop Lower Astronomy Studios, which is challenging stereotypes in the industry.
