Foundation Model Transparency Index Evaluates AI Model Transparency
A new project called the Foundation Model Transparency Index, organized by Stanford University's Human Centered Artificial Intelligence Institute, has assessed the transparency of major AI models. The project evaluated 100 indicators related to data, labor, compute, methods, model basics, model access, capabilities, risks, mitigations, distribution, usage policy, feedback, and impact. The research found that no major foundation model developer currently provides adequate transparency, with Meta's LAMA 2 ranking highest with a score of 54%. The study highlights the need for increased transparency in the AI industry to enable safer and more responsible use of these models.
A group of researchers from Stanford, MIT and Princeton have come up with a new system for determining which AI foundation models are the most transparent. Watch to figure out who scores highest.
