Wokeness and the Democratic Party's Shift to Identity Politics

Wokeness refers to the Democratic Party's attempt to create a new base with the mass defection of the white working class and instrumentalizing identity politics to derail class-based campaigns. The party has shifted its focus from the white working class, which used to be its base, to various identity groups. This shift is evident in the Democratic Party conventions where the working class is barely mentioned, and the focus is on diverse identities. Rich white liberals have embraced wokeness as a way to appear radical without sacrificing any privilege. They want to be part of the ruling class and include proportional representation of various identities within it. This is facilitated by the vast wealth of the top 1% and their ability to financially support identity-based causes. The hyper-woke media outlets like the New York Times and MSNBC, which have become the most anti-Bernie and anti-class struggle, demonstrate the alignment of wokeness with the interests of the ruling elites.
