What do new teachers need to know about cognitive science?

The guest on this week's episode of 'Beyond Survival: the new teacher podcast'  is Peter Foster.  Peter leads secondary teacher development across a large multi-academy trust. He is also the author of a superb new book called 'What do new teachers need to know?', which is out on Wednesday 19th of April.

In this interview, Peter answers the central question: What do new teachers need to know about cognitive science.

In answering that central question we also explore the following: 

1.  What does the evidence say about what learning is and what impact should that have on teachers' planning? 

3.  What is retrieval practice and how can teachers introduce it to their lessons?
