Becoming More Like Jesus: The Essence of Sanctification

Sanctification is about becoming more like Jesus. The Apostle Paul addresses the issue of gifts in the church at Corinth, emphasizing that gifts without real holiness can be dangerous. Paul highlights the importance of love as the more excellent way, stating that without love, even the highest spiritual gifts amount to nothing. Accomplishments and abilities do not define who we truly are; love is the essential indicator of holiness. To understand what love looks like, we can replace the word 'love' in 1 Corinthians 13 with 'Jesus'. By examining the characteristics of Jesus, such as patience, kindness, humility, and forgiveness, we gain insight into what it means to be Jesus-like and grow in sanctification.
