The pioneering eye surgery that led to Lasik

Dr Jose Ignacio Barraquer Moner, a pioneering ophthalmologist, performed groundbreaking eye surgery in 1963 to correct short-sightedness. He developed a technique involving corneal reshaping using dry ice and a lathe. This surgery led to the evolution of Lasik eye surgery. His daughter, Carmen Barraquer Coll, was inspired by his work and followed in his footsteps.
