S2EO10: Challenging the Norm: Gender, Resilience, and Innovation in the Tech World with Gabi Immelman
Gabi Immelman is the founder and CEO of Mindjoy, an edtech startup that helps STEM teachers unleash curiosity for boundless classroom learning with the power of AI. She has a background in education, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and she was named one of the Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans for 20221. According to her own blog, Gabi started Mindjoy after spending three years in Silicon Valley, where she worked in various learning settings and observed how technology was used to foster self-directed and lifelong learning. She wanted to bring that kind of learning experience to South Africa and other parts of the world, where access to technology and digital skills is limited or unequal. She also wanted to create a community of learners who could enjoy coding and discover its potential for solving problems and creating value. Gabi says that she is curious about learning, startups, resilience, systems thinking, and the quest for the master algorithm. She wishes to create learning contexts that kids call hard fun. She also says that she uses curiosity as a guide and a superpower, and that she is inspired by strong women in her family and in the tech industry. Welcome to the episode...
