In this episode, I am joined by BCBA Chrissy Barosky who is the Chief Clinical Officer of Bierman ABA. Chrissy and I discuss the extremely important topic of assent withdrawal. Assent withdrawal is when a learner is trying to tell that they are not happy with something. This may look like escape or avoidance behavior. As educators and clinicians, it is essential to identify when assent withdrawal is occurring and honor this request. Chrissy shares how to identify these responses and what to learn from the situation when this does occur. She shares proactive strategies that can help create an environment that is more conducive to that individual’s learning.
