Small modular reactors (SMRs) are being seen as a promising solution for nuclear energy. These reactors are much smaller in size compared to traditional ones and can provide around 1/10th to 1/20th of their power output. The scalability of SMRs allows for the possibility of selling them to utilities or even large tech companies to meet their energy needs. However, the regulatory process for approving new designs and reactors remains a challenge. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's strict guidelines and lack of clear procedures for approving new designs hinder the progress of SMR development. Despite the hurdles, the potential of SMRs and their positive impact on the energy industry remains promising for the future.
