And pressure is also being put on companies to hire local citizens, even over totally legal immigrants. The movement has caused concern among some observers. Unemployment is a hot topic in South Africa. It is, of course, a country where thousands of people from across the continent come to live and work. But nearly 35% of the population are currently out of work. So what is really happening with this campaign? Is it just a front for anti-immigrant sentiments and motives?
