Dr. Levine holds doctorate degrees in Medical Biophysics and in Psychology, and during his thirty five-year study of stress and trauma, has contributed to a variety of scientific and popular publications.
Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Levine has received Lifetime Achievement awards from Psychotherapy Networker, the US Association for Body-Oriented Psychotherapy, and the Association for Training on Trauma and Attachment in Children. He served as a Stress consultant for NASA in the early space shuttle development. He served on the American Psychological Association task force for responding to the trauma of large-scale disasters and ethnopolitical warfare.
He is currently a Senior Fellow and consultant at The Meadows Addiction and Trauma Treatment Center in Wickenburg, Arizona, and continues to teach trauma healing workshops internationally.
