30. Discipline equals freedom
Stay humble and flexible, deliver as promised, repeat.
So simple, yet so difficult.
The paradox about freedom is that you need to work hard to earn it.
I’ve met many leaders in the technology space over the last three years. But Paul Dorney has been instrumental in my career and my growth, ever since I met him early on in 2021.
I learned tons about software development, how to build products, startups, what to look for in developers, how to drive teams.
He is an Irish Software Engineer who emigrated to the US almost 20 years ago, and made his way up the ranks in different companies and startups of his own.
I have a very hard time keeping up with his work rhythm, and I can’t even try to follow him if we go out for drinks. He will get up early the next morning, but I probably won’t.
Paul will share his compelling journey, laden with startup experiences that encompass both challenges and triumphs. His unwavering passion for problem-solving and fostering a collaborative and inspiring work environment sets him apart. Paul is not only a hands-on CTO but also a servant leader who is results-oriented, builds high-performing teams, and cultivates enduring relationships.
Currently the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Bosscat, Paul has been instrumental in elevating the company's award-winning technology and products to unparalleled levels. He has spearheaded transformations in how homeowners and real estate professionals navigate the world of online repairs, renovations, and related services.
Before his tenure at Bosscat, he founded Silbo, a startup in the gig economy space. Under his leadership, it scaled to become the largest gig economy platform for sports officiating in North America.
Take the time, listen, learn and enjoy!
