Deep dives
The Radiant Presence of Reality
There is a totality of reality that is already complete and does not change regardless of what happens. In yoga, we take advantage of our ability to appreciate and enjoy the qualities of this reality. The true nature of this reality is beyond concepts and thoughts. We often struggle to recognize it because we are caught up in our distorted beliefs. The key is to observe our experience without preconceptions and notice the fullness and completeness of what it actually is. There is only one presence, one being, and that is what we truly are. The field of our experience is the totality of reality.
The Infinite Fullness of Being
This reality, which is often called God, is absolute completeness and fullness. There is nothing lacking or missing, and nothing needs to be done or achieved to attain it. This fullness transcends space and time and is eternal. Our being is inseparable from this fullness, and we can experience and recognize it directly. It is always right here, right now, perpetually balanced and at rest. It is the substance of everything, the motive force of everything, and it resides in the inclusiveness of its own fullness and wholeness.
Recognizing the richness of experience
The true nature of reality is experienced in the present moment through the richness and texture of our direct experience. We often overlook the subtle layers of experience that exist beyond our usual focus. By attentively observing the specific qualities and details of our experience, we can discover the infinite possibilities and depths within it. This includes recognizing the coexistence of contradictory dimensions and embracing the full range of sensory and intuitive experiences. The more we explore the specifics of our experience, the more we come to realize the profound intelligence and richness of reality.
The Unthinkable Nature of Experience
The nature of experience is beyond definition or conceptualization. It cannot be fully grasped or communicated through language or thoughts. Experience itself is the only truth and reality, and it is constantly unfolding and changing. Our interpretations and conceptualizations of experience are limited and inaccurate, often leading to a sense of limitation, suffering, and incompleteness. By directly feeling and recognizing the actual texture and flavor of experience, we can access the profound meaningfulness, lusciousness, and intelligence that lies beyond concepts.
Exploring the Full Spectrum of Experience
Every aspect of experience, from the sensory to the subtle energies, constitutes the radiant presence of reality. The spectrum of experience encompasses a vast range of qualities and forms, all interconnected and arising from the same source. The specifics of focus and attention shape our perception of reality, causing certain aspects to appear more prominent and real. However, the specialness and reality of any specific focus is the same reality that permeates all experience. By diving into the specifics and feeling the presence of experience, we can discover the infinite depths and information embedded within the radiant presence of reality.
A compilation of introductory talks from 2018 on the Yoga of Radiant Presence by Peter Brown. This great secret of yoga is that the immediate, concrete being of the yogi, YOUR experiential field, is in fact the entirety of the absolute, the divine. The practice of Yoga is possible because this is so; through investigating the accessible nature of one's experience, the absolute condition can be recognized. Peter Brown made himself available to transmit and teach this Yoga individually, in groups, and at retreats until he passed away in September 2022.
