Rescue and Relief Efforts in Shizang

Following a deadly earthquake in the Shizang region that resulted in 126 fatalities and significant destruction, rescue teams are actively working to locate survivors and provide assistance. More than 47,000 individuals have been relocated to over 200 resettlement sites, where they receive essential supplies like tents, stoves, and blankets. The harsh winter conditions exacerbate the challenges faced by both the affected residents and the rescue workers, all dealing with high altitude and low temperatures around minus 18 degrees Celsius at night. Efforts are underway to ensure basic needs are met and to restore infrastructure in the region, with authorities providing hot meals and portable housing to those impacted by the disaster.
