This week on Black on Black Cinema, the crew returns to discuss the 2020 film, The Banker. The film inspired by the true story of two African-American entrepreneurs, Bernard Garrett and Joe Morris, played by Anthony Mackie and Samuel L. Jackson. Set in the 1950s and '60s, they challenge the status quo by buying banks and real estate properties in predominantly white areas to help black families secure loans and achieve financial stability. The two use a white front man, played by Nicholas Hoult, to overcome racial barriers and promote economic equality in a racially divided America.
