Season 2, Episode 8: Chances Are It Didn’t Begin With You:  Healing Ancestral Trauma

On The New Beyond this week, we take on the subject of ancestral trauma and how to heal it.

If you have personal issues around addictions like alcoholism or drug abuse, depression, obesity, diabetes, or anxiety; chances are you might find that somewhere back in your lineage is where those issues began.  And they got passed on.  Maybe you’re dealing with those issues today.

If it didn’t begin with you, could it end with you?

We’ll discuss the Native American teaching on how our actions affect 14 generations; 7 generations in each direction.  How does that work? Tune in and learn……

We’ll consider scientific findings in the field of epigenetics that demonstrate how biological trauma leaves a chemical marker on the genes of the children and grandchildren of those whose parents experienced extreme trauma.  Studies of those who went through the Holocaust, or other catastrophic events found increased incidents of depression, anxiety, obesity and diabetes in their children, grandchildren and future generations.

Doing the work of healing generational trauma is an opportunity to break the pattern of the wound so that it stops with you.  You are taking responsibility for leaving a different legacy for future generations.

In this episode we’ll talk about specific practices to support healing generational trauma.  Judith shares a dream she had that showed her a practice to use with clients and those doing this kind of work.  Anyone can do it, but it takes courage and commitment.

We’ll end with a call to action.  Do you CHOOSE to consciously take on your own generational healing work?  If you’re dealing with issues and you can’t get to the bottom of where it came from and why it persists, consider that it might not have started with you. But it can end with you.
