In today’s episode please make welcome back to the show Phil Leahy – the CEO of Retail Global. Phil and I last chatted on the show back in 2019 about Australia’s Big 4 Marketplaces, eBay, Amazon, Catch and Kogan.
We chat today about the effect that the pandemic had on ecommerce here in Australia both for marketplaces and pure-play ecommerce retailers like Lovehoney. Turns out that sex and booze did very well online in 2020… Of course we also talk about the ways in which retailers pivoted fast into ecommerce to stay alive, and the seemingly entrenched impact it’s had on the way Australian’s shop now…
Finally we talk about the upcoming RG event on the 29-31st of March 2021 which I’ll be speaking at, holding the “How to grow your brand on Amazon Australia workshop” with Regina Peterburgsky (Women on Amazon) and Calli (private Label Australia).
