Coraline discovers a mysterious door and enters a parallel universe

Coraline, a young girl who feels neglected by her parents, discovers a hidden door in her house that leads to a parallel universe. In this mirror version of her own world, Coraline's other mother and other father have button eyes and try to convince her to stay forever by sewing buttons onto her own eyes. Unsettled by their intentions, Coraline escapes back to her own world. However, when her real parents go missing, she must return to the parallel universe and embark on a game with the other mother to rescue her parents and the souls of other trapped children. With bravery and cunning, Coraline outwits the other mother and secures her freedom.
