In 2006 Julia Hartz started a company with two co-founders in Silicon Valley. They wanted to shake-up how people bought tickets for events through using mobile phones and QR codes. Eventbrite started by facilitating meet-ups in the tech community. But last year it issued more than 300 million tickets for 5 million events around the world and the company was valued at more than $1.8bn when it floated on the stock market in 2018.
