Deep dives
Social Noting and Multiplayer Meditation
The practice of social noting, introduced by Kenneth Folk, involves meditating out loud with others to enhance interaction and focus on relational dynamics. This practice evolved into what Vince Horn terms multiplayer meditation, focusing on innovative, interactive methods beyond individualistic silent meditation. By engaging in social practices, like social noting, with others, clarity and applicability increase due to the shared experience and responsibility towards the group.
Mindful Observing and Witnessing Practice
Guided by Vince Horn, the group participates in a practicing called There Is Noting, focusing on acknowledging immediate sensory experiences like seeing, hearing, and contemplating out loud. This mindful observing exercise allows participants to witness their internal responses and develops an awareness of interconnected experiences, leading to heightened clarity and group synchronization through shared perceptions.
Social Loving Kindness Practice
The podcast group explores a social loving-kindness meditation, expressing wishes for oneself, the group, and all beings by saying 'may connection arise' or 'may wisdom arise'. This heartful practice focuses on inclining the mind towards openness and compassion, fostering a sense of love and connectivity among participants.
Imaginal World Building in Social Minecraft
A creative practice called Social Minecraft involves verbalizing 'I will allow' statements to add elements like curiosity, sound, or joy to an imaginary world collectively constructed by the participants. This imaginative meditation emphasizes building a diverse and holistic world, embracing both desirable and challenging aspects to cultivate wholeness and balance in shared communal vision.
