EP 44 - I Watched Adolescence as a Photographer. I Felt It as a Father.
This episode isn’t about photography. Not really. It’s about a show that hit me in such a way I had to talk about it.
I just watched Adolescence on Netflix — a cinematic sledgehammer starring Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper as the 13 year old boy arrested for murder. The performances left me speechless as did the direction by Philip Barantini. and writing by Jack Thorne and Graham. Shot in one take. Four episodes. No cuts. No mercy.
As a photographer, I was floored by the visual storytelling. As a dad… I was disturbed. This show isn’t so much entertainment — it’s a mirror. It’s a question we all need to be asking: do we really know what’s going on in our kids’ lives .
This is me processing it all. No plan, no notes — just an immediate reaction.
