This alarming rise, nearly 70% by 2050, is attributed to the increasing resistance of bacteria and fungi against existing medications, primarily due to the overuse of antibiotics. The World Health Organization has flagged AMR as one of the most significant global health threats. The study suggests that introducing new antibiotics, enhancing healthcare systems, and curbing antibiotic use in agriculture can mitigate this impending crisis and save millions of lives.
