It is the root of our bad habits, the seed for our worst decisions, and the trap that chains us to the past. It can propel us towards change, help us grow, and be a powerful force for healing our deepest wounds. Though this conversation is almost always coursing, we rarely engage our voice in the exchange. Worse still, most of us aren’t even listening. We’re simply responding to the unheard voices, unaware of what lies behind our emotions, decisions, and knee-jerk responses. One of the most powerful skills we can learn to influence the course of our lives and grow closer to Christ is how to tune into this conversation and become an active speaker in the dialogue.
