While traditional methods struggle with capturing fast limb trajectories, Seungbin Park and her colleagues have used a deep learning approach that overcomes this barrier! By employing a recurrent encoder-decoder network, they were able to decode rapid limb movements of a running mouse using slow two-photon calcium imaging—a major breakthrough in minimally-invasive, optical imaging-based BCI for multi-limb control.
